Majority of Households Prefer to Use Nylon Carpets Than Other Carpeting

There are various types of fiber used for making carpet flooring. One of the most popular and widely used fibers for making the flooring is nylon. Not a lot of people know that nearly nine out of ten households opt for nylon carpet over other kinds available in the market. This should not be surprising due to the fact that wool carpets could be very expensive. Even though nylon carpets are not as cheap as those made from polypropylene and polyester, still they post a competition in terms of designs and styles.

A nylon carpets come in different color combinations and sizes. The nylon fiber is one of the most durable carpet material in the market. Nylon carpeting is known in the carpet industry as being able to withstand extensive wear and tear, which is a great benefit since one need not worry about replacement for a long time or whether the flooring could withstand the daily foot traffic. This type of carpet is considered to be the strongest of all kinds. It resists impact of insects, abrasion, molding, mildew, rot and various chemicals that could affect its functions and aesthetics. PROS OF NYLON CARPET

1. Good elasticity - the fiber could stretch up to thirty-three percent of the length and could still regain its original form or shape. This is particularly important in areas with heavy traffic and where furniture may be dragged across the flooring.
2. Easy to maintain - the material has synthetic fibers that make it especially resistant to stains, thus it is very easy to maintain. Because it is extremely stain and soil resistant, it is great particularly for homes where there are young kids.
3. Mildew resistant - it provides no food source, yet mildew could grow on it if there is another food source available.
4. Heat sets well - when heat set properly, nylon will retain its twist, crimp and dye thoroughly well.
5. Good resiliency - the fiber could be crushed for long periods, but could still go back to its original shape.

CONS OF NYLON CARPET

1. Acid dyed - the flooring is almost always acid dyed and rarely solution dyed. That is why it could have issues with fading, bleaching, urine reactions and more.
2. Not green - for those who pride in helping protect the environment, there are other options friendlier than this kind of flooring. It is not particularly damaging to nature, but it is a synthetic material the same as plastics.

The manner in which the flooring is designed at present is different from the way it was in the past. Nowadays, dye is added after making the flooring.  Before, the dye was applied before weaving the floor covering. This change has enabled the carpets to endure exposure to direct sunlight and still look amazing for many years.

In a nutshell, it could be said that the material is a strong fiber, resistance to mold, mildew and dusts, has a long life and so provides great value for money.
