Carpet Flooring Is One Of The Basic Building Materials That Boost The Value Of A Home

When it comes to flooring, carpet matters, according to the experts today. Carpeting is the third biggest investment that an average homeowners make, topped only by the home and car. In the past, carpets were considered as decorative home additions. These days, carpets are one of the basic building materials that help in determining the value of the home.
Carpet Materials

When shopping for carpet, the fiber from which it is made of will be the most integral consideration. The kind of fiber will determine most of the flooring qualities and accounts for eighty percent of the cost. Keep in mind that no fiver is right for all scenarios, thus there are several factors to consider when choosing one. The type of fiber of choice would determine how long the new carpeting would last, its softness, the available colors and how it cleans easily and how it will cost.

Nylon fiber is considered the most durable and resilient of all carpet materials. A resilient fiber has the ability to return to its original shape or position after it is compressed, bent or stretched. Nylon is the most resilient used for carpeting, which keeps it looking like new for a long time than other materials. It is also one of the more costly fibers second only to wool. For plenty of traffic and longevity, this is the best choice.

Olefin or polypropylene is a very strong fiber, often used for Berber carpets, commercial carpeting and outdoor grass carpets. It wears well and possesses a good stain resistance when applied with anti-stain treatment. Furthermore, olefin has good anti-static properties. Nonetheless, it is not easy to maintain and tends to appear dingy when stained. Berber carpets from olefin in smaller loops and in a tighter weave would yield a longer wearing floor covering. Polyester is one of the least costly fibers to manufacture. A thick polyester carpeting may feel soft and nice, but not resilient and does not make long-lasting flooring. Polyester mat down fast.

Wool fiber is considered as the most elite and the most expensive of all. Wool is a natural material and very soft. Furthermore, it has excellent insulating attributes and is inherently fire resistant. Wool carpet should be cleaned professionally by specialized carpet cleaning methods. It is more expensive to install and maintain than other styles.

Some fibers are best with low-loop or low-pile carpeting. In fibers, the dyeing method is an important consideration. Some could be solution dyed wherein color is mixed in with the material during manufacturing. In stock dying, the material is dyed later and the color will not penetrate. The choice of fiber is determined by the amount of traffic the room will receive. That is why it is important to keep in mind whether it is for a bedroom, hallway, stairway or family room. Moreover, prices vary greatly so it is important to look for the best value that one could afford. Carpeting for a kitchen, bedroom, basement or pool area could be exposed to dampness, some materials tolerate it some do not.
